16 SR Night Glow
The Cinematography Electronics 16 SR NIGHT GLOW illuminates the optic screen frame lines with a
pleasing luminous red glow in the viewfinder. All 16 SR type fiber optic screens are compatible with
the NIGHT GLOW, so there is no need for additional frame masks or adjustments. The red luminosity
level of the glow is adjustable over a wide 32 step range, accommodating different film lighting
conditions. Glow up and down buttons (conveniently located on the top edge of the NIGHT GLOW) set
the intensity level of the glow. Momentarily pressing a button changes the level by a single small
step. Holding down a button scrolls the level continuously until the limit is reached, or the button
is released. The NIGHT GLOW automatically adjusts the intensity level of the glow when the camera is
running so that it appears the same as the preset level when the camera is parked. This eliminates
the need to readjust the intensity level every time the camera is turned on, as is the case with the
SR 3 camera. When the glow is turned off (with its toggle switch or by removing camera power), the
luminosity level of the glow is digitally stored until the glow is once again activated.
The NIGHT GLOW circuitry directly senses the camera shutter position, linking and synchronizing the
glow to the mirrored shutter, thus automatically adjusting for varying frame rates. This assures
that the glow is only on in the shutter viewing position. The Cinematography Electronics NIGHT GLOW
utilizes a 95:5 beam splitter. The 95:5 beam splitter transmits 25 percent more light to both the
viewfinder and the video tap than a standard SR camera. This translates into a significantly
brighter viewfinder image, and a significantly brighter video tap image; even brighter than the SR 3
camera.
16 SR Speed Control
The Cinematography Electronics 16 SR SPEED CONTROL combines an expanded crystal speed range, digital
readouts, and other features in a stylish package for the 16 SR 1, 2 and 16 SRHS 1, 2 cameras. The
SR SPEED CONTROL provides 75 crystal speeds for the standard SR camera and 150 crystal speeds for
the SRHS camera. This crystal accuracy results in many flickerfree filming speeds with 50 Hz or 60
Hz HMI lights. Precise speed selections in one frame increments are easily accomplished with the
push button digit switches that are protected by an integral sliding door. An out of sync beeper
with adjustable volume chirps when the camera is not running at the selected speed.
Bright red LEDs display the camera speed in frames per second (fps), and the film count in either
feet or meters. The film count is automatically stored in memory at least 4 hours on power down. A
reset button zeros the film counter. All functions are powered by the camera battery through an
internal wire harness. Two battery indicator LEDs show the voltage condition of the camera battery
at all times.
The 16 SR SPEED CONTROL and 16 SR NIGHT GLOW add value and features to your SR camera. They both
attach to the left side contour of the camera in place of the exposure meter and share an internal
camera wire harness. Individually, the SR SPEED CONTROL mounts on an angle bracket that attaches
under the camera handle. A new combo bracket that also attaches under the handle combines the SR
SPEED CONTROL with the SR NIGHT GLOW. A medallion plate version of the NIGHT GLOW is available as a
stand-alone unit. All required parts and full installation instructions are included with these
products. Installation is also available at Cinematography Electronics.
